Dedication Letters from the Students

The story of Liberty Christian Academy is one more example of how faithful our Lord is.  Only God could accomplish the workings and events of this story and we wish to honor Him by giving Him all the glory and credit.

Liberty Christian Academy came into existence after the closing of Warrenton Christian School in July of 2005.

Warrenton Christian School was founded in 1983 as a ministry of the Warrenton Wesleyan Church and for twenty-two years the Wesleyan Church sacrificially supported the school before it was decided that the school would have to close.  Members of the WCS school board and many parents rallied in an attempt to form a new school, but things looked pretty bleak, as there was only a month before school was set to begin.  The first obstacle was to try to find a building that could be used to house the school.  Members of the school's transition board went to the Wright City R-II school board in an effort to secure a lease agreement on the empty middle school building that Warrenton Christian School had attempted to lease just three months earlier.  The R-II school board voted 4-3 to approve the lease, with the swing vote coming from a new board member attending their first meeting.  The new member had replaced a member that had voted against the lease when Warrenton Christian approached them in the spring.

Once the lease was secured, there was a tremendous amount of work to be done as the new school had to start the process of finding teachers, office staff, curriculum, desks and of course students!!  As we witnessed God’s hand at work through all this it became a great faith builder for many parents and board members.  School started just after Labor Day, in September 2005.  In less than six weeks, God had provided a building, teachers, office staff, desks, curriculum and over 70 students that would attend classes in grades K4 through 12.

We didn’t have to go far in the new school year to find that there would be one more major obstacle to overcome.  In early October, the school sent in an order for over $22,000 to purchase script cards that were ordered by parents as part of a fundraiser.  The company that had supplied the cards to Warrenton Christian for several years was about to file bankruptcy and we were about to lose over $22,000.  After several months of prayer and many futile attempts to retrieve our money from the company, one board member listened and acted when God laid it on her heart for us to go public with what had happened.  One day after we contacted KMOV TV Channel 4 in St. Louis, our story aired and God again worked another miracle.  It took less than two weeks before we had received the same amount of donations that we had lost.

Just as we were preparing to end our first school year we received word that the school building was going to be listed for sale at the asking price of $850,000!!  Less than two months later the building sold and we were given a sixty-day notice to find a new home.  A few weeks after we had received word of the sale, Paul Hunt, the new owner, contacted us to let us know that he planned to allow us to use the building rent-free for the year, and it was his desire to gift the property to Liberty Christian Academy on August 15, 2007.  God has been so faithful to us in our transition from Warrenton Christian School to Liberty Christian Academy.  He has met every single need we have had, big and small.  He has provided parents that have been lead to give time and money for needed renovations in the building this past year.  We have been able to install new hard tile in the hallways, repaint the halls and the gymnasium maroon and white, install new maroon mats for the gym and most recently the installation of the kitchen and lunchroom in the main building.  The Lord has continued to send us people with computers, desk, office furniture, classroom shelves and every small item you can imagine.

Since the establishment of Liberty Christian Academy, the parents, staff and board have been praying for an administrator for our school.  Not just any administrator, but God's choice for the right person to lead our school into the future.  In January 2007, God answered that prayer by sending Dr. Rita Wildhaber to our school. Dr. Wildhaber holds a Ph.D. from St. Louis University, a Masters in Special Education from Kansas University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Middle and Elementary Education from Southeast Missouri State University.  She is a wife, mother and grandmother who has managed a successful career in public education for 35 years.

When we look back at God's hand in the creation of our school, it causes us to give thanks for everything He has done, it gives us confidence in the provision of God for the ongoing operation of the school and it gives us a sense of excitement about the vision that God has for a premier institution of Christian education in the Westplex area.  We welcome you to join us as we strive to make Liberty Christian Academy a place that will glorify Him and produce students that will serve His kingdom.
